3. To be fair

Most historians don't even know how many people died in China's famine, and all records show that those who died during India's capitalists development (which gained independence a few years earlier) are much, much higher.

4. It's not just the deaths

Mao followed through with forced "re-education" and destroyed scientific research and the arts in the name of his communist ideals. Anyone who criticized him was imprisoned or put to death, and their children if they had any were sent off to the fields.

5. The trouble with the development of the third world

is that it is to benefit the west. The west, all of us, but especially the US, takes more money out of the third world in a day than is given in aid in a year. Read Shock Doctrine. Read anything by John Perkins. It's a necessary part of one's education.
