A first-grade art project has two parents so upset that they are moving their son to another school in another city.

Who is right? The parents or the teacher?

Did anyone even ask the child what the mask represented? The teacher said he had people making knights and princesses. I think the parents blew it out of proportion.

I think moving is kind of a harsh knee-jerk reaction. Why not use the moment to teach a few things. I don't think the art teacher had this motive at all.

The teacher apologized. I'm sure it did not register with him. Good grief, they moved the kid's school because of this? I feel sorry for the kid having parents that would do that.

4. The parents are making a mountain out of something smaller than a molehill.

There is no "danger" to their child. They're being moronic about the issue and I think they know it.

They're outraged because their kid made a mask OF HIS OWN DESIGN?

The KKK has done some terrible things; I can understand some overreaction by some people.

6. That poor kid!

I find it rather refreshing that neither the kid nor the teacher saw a connection, but now this poor kid thinks he did something wrong and that's sad. I don't know the parents' experience, so I can't blame them for their reaction... if either of them had experience with the KKK, then I can understand them wanting to move their child out of fear. But I really don't think the kid was in any danger, unless you consider it danger to have such an innocent mind.

So why are the parents upset with the school and teacher? Maybe they should ask the kid why he chose that shape...I'll bet he thought it looked more outer space or warrior...likely doesn't even know about the KKK yet...
