2. The irony is that, were the prez much more politically courageous on a number of issues,... |
|
...he'd have a whole lot more support now - especially from indies, most of whom simply jump on to the stronger team.

Blah, blah, blah, LGBT, blah, blah, blah...
That is what our LGBT kindred are getting from this White House.
As long as Obama and his 'advisors' tiptoe around DADT and use phrases like "lifestyle choice," we MUST acknowledge some level of homophobia in this White House. Once you admit you have a problem, you are on your way to recovery, Mr. President.

6. Must be that the administration... |
|
...believes that all they have to do is tack right on various issues and - magically, any day now - the Rs, Cons and out-and-out (sorry for the pun) fascists, will come over to the Dem side and everything will be wonderfully bipartisan.
Mr. President, the other half of the corporate super-party HATES you (racism, they're out of power, you name the reason). Way to fire up the base prior to an important election. Gibbs' statement is utterly incoherent (again) and emblematic of Beltway double-speak.
Shameful.

7. It's fascinating how the prez doesn't seem to get this... |

I think a good therapist might be able to help - it's as if he clings to an illusion based on some sort of need to fit in. God bless him - the quicker he gets over this, the better off the country will be.

Sorry for the All caps, but you really have to admit that Obama has really done the country a HUGE!!!! favor by appealing this decision. For the last two years so many of us have struggled with the promises that have been offered versus the ones that have been delivered (or lack thereof). We see disappointment after disappointment, but still hold out hope that maybe he is being smart politically somehow as in a master chess player.... maybe he is holding out for the right time or right place.... maybe it is it just too damn hard to pass them..... who knows. We all have our list of hopes as to why things don't get done, since we think that he is sincerely trying to fulfill his promises.
But this decision is a Godsend to us. Why, because it basically shows that he has no intention whatsoever of delivering on the promises that Senator Obama made and it he could not have made any clearer than this time. With this issue, it was packaged up and ready to go without any fighting involved. For starters, the opposing party put through what was arguably the easiest campaign promise for Obama to deliver on. If that was not embarrassing enough, since they actually accomplished this, all that Obama would have to do is essentially NOTHING!!! NADA!! ZIP!! BUPKAS!! In short, NOT A GOD DAMNED THING! So, if "doing nothing" was not easy enough, he is going to take the insane step of appealing his own campaign promise. Okay, we get it. WE....GET....IT!!!!
Looking on the bright side, by appealing this decision, we can stop wasting mental energy and emotions wondering if he just can't get it done and realize he has no intention of doing so, then move on.
