2. It's always going to be Cut K-12; Cut Higher Ed; Cut Social Programs.
At the state level, that's all they've got. But they can't say it outloud prior to the election. They need time for their spin doctors to whip people up to a frenzy about "wasteful spending" in the targeted programs.

19. That was actually informative-they only have 16% of the budget* to 'play with'
*-16% does not include the bloated DoD budget

Sounds familiar- When Arnie stormed in to office he suddenly found that only 14% of the California budget is in play. The rest is decreed by public spending requirements.

4. It doesn't matter what is on Faux Noise
Nobody who will change their mind is watching that propaganda chanel. Faux Noise is the chanel of choice for low information voters.

5. WOW. I think Chris Wallace must hate *this* particular woman for some reason.
Edited on Sun Oct-17-10 01:48 PM by tblue37
I cannot imagine any other reason why he would pin her to the wall on her slip-slidin’ away answers, since doing so must inevitably help Barbara Boxer, and we know he hates Dems.

8. He knows that she's even a more dangerous fool than Prissy Chrissy
Prissy's not anywhere near smart enough to be a danger to this country, but Failin' Fiorina would probably be able to persuade enough Senators to adopt her ruinous policy initiatives.

Even Republicons know the difference between a truly successful business person, and someone who got there from pure affirmative action, without having any substance behind them.

16. He did the same to Boehner a couple of weeks ago
with the same results. They won't answer the question.

What also was funny that after Wallace put up a graphic showing that Boxer leads 47% - 44% Fiorina said "you can look at the polls going back for a year and Boxer never polled above 45%."

7. Even Repukes know she's a fraud
If any of you dares to sully your computer by visiting freeperland, you'll see that the only people there who have anything positive to say about this crazy woman are the ones who would welcome her bringing CA into the "R" column if they take over the Senate.

Even the pro-business corporatists on the reich wing know that Carly's driven two businesses into the ground, and hers is the last sort of 'thinking' that this country needs.

Because she doesn't have a clue what she would do.

Her response is an example of a typical political answer to anything....blah blah bs blah.

20. They have no idea the effect of govt. spending- Hampton Roads VA for instance
there are plans to close a strategic command post (the name isn't important) because technology has made it irrelevant. All the Va Reps and Senators (Webb included) are falling all over themselves to preserve it....why? because of the jobs it would cost, including the extended residual jobs in the community.

That is nothing compared to what CORN costs us. But all political roads lead through Iowa.

12. Carly Fiorina's only "plan" is to fire people and increase unemployment.
She does not understand the fine points of governing. She is a loudmouth generalist who would not serve the country well in the Senate.

By the way, I strongly support a value-added tax. It is the only way to even the playing field between the U.S. and European countries which have the value-added tax. The value-added tax in a country like ours in which nearly all consumer goods are imported is the only way to make up for the loss of income tax revenue that "free trade" and job outsourcing have caused.

If you know of a better way to even the playing field with countries like Germany that have a value added tax or to raise money for the government to make up for the income taxes lost due to high unemployment, please say so.

Don't say the value added tax is regressive. All taxes are regressive because the wealthy hire really good tax attorneys and buy tax loopholes from Congress. The value added tax is no more regressive than other taxes as applied today in our country.

17. she ran Hewlett Packard into the ground--she outsourced tens of thousands of jobs
she turned hard working Americans out to shift for themselves as she sailed on with her golden multi-million dollar parachute and she thinks that that qualifies her to serve in the senate.

I guess as a rethugliCON, that appears to be a qualifying characteristic. Thing is: many of those folks haven't forgotten---and they vote.

22. "bipartisan" "...so they understand the choices"
"bipartisan" today means we do what the Republicans want

the other thing is just "we will tell the people what to think" which means the corporate hired PR guys distract the masses.
