2. She came in last. She'll probably be gone tonight. |
|
Her "performances" (use the term loosely) have been lame all along, but the judges have given her higher scores than she deserves to keep her around. They can't do it any longer. She's the worst. Love how they bill her as a "teen pregnancy advocate." WTF? She's a joke.

judges have been instructed to give her every benefit of the doubt.

I love dance, and music! But I sure am tired of the arts being turned into sporting events!
If you want to see some good dancing and hear good music, go to the ballet. I suggest ABT, or Paul Taylor. Mark Morris has gotten really hit & miss lately.

show-biz D-listers and has-beens. Lately they've been going with "reality tv" personalities like Kate Gosselin - who made a total ass of herself - and somebody who calls himself "The Situation" from Jersey Shore. These people are brought on not because they have any chance of winning, but to attract ratings. Palin is more or less in that category. ABC is apparently looking to attract viewers who are right wing nut cases.

If she was just "born to a vagina" as you say, then she should have told ABC no. But she didn't because she's a Media Whore just like her mother. And no, we shouldn't give her some slack. She's a 19 year old who should have known better.

I mean seriously, we're arguing about a television show that at its apogee doesn't rise above the level of bread and circuses. And you're trying to flay a kid who you wouldn't know existed except for an accident of birth.
This brutal hatred of those who don't share our values has always been one of the most disquieting things about the progressive movement to me.

23. I hope Bristol stays because I loved her performance, |
|
which I thought was very clever--and a pointed attack at her mother's rejection of the science of evolution. What could be more brilliant than to take the motif of a monkey wearing a tutu and that have it evolve into a human form? And, indeed, that the human form was always-already present in the monkey if only one knew where to look?
One thing I think the judges were wrong about was this idea that she was missing steps/making mistakes. It seems to me that her "missed steps" were a way of commenting on her mother's quitting things midstream: Bristol would "quit" in the middle of the dance and, knowing the camera was still on her, do something else, but always slightly akimbo and awkward in unexpected ways, as if each dance move (and each "missed" movement) were the dance form of malapropisms like "refudiate." Or, again, it could be that the lack of sync between Bristol and her partner was a way of "going rogue" in the context of ballroom, as if to say, "yes, there is the way one typically does it, and then there is the way I choose to do it, which is to eschew conventional thinking and modes of bodily belonging."
Her series of performances has been an excellent deconstruction of the logical fallacies underlying Sister Sarah's ideological pronouncements, so much so that I think Crystal might be the most slyly astute political commentator we have right now. It's been a weeks-long piece of astonishingly aware performance art. She and Laurie Anderson might want to work on a piece together for BAM when the Dancing With the Stars season is over.

27. Total score of 18 for Bristol. The other pairs all got 20+ points. |
|
I read that the 'stars'(cough) get $100,000 for the first show then each additional week $20,000 Bristol's been on the show five weeks so after she gets booted tonight she'll walk away with $180,000 She's NOT one of those 'hard-working Americans' that Sarah Palin is always spouting off about ;)

32. OMG !!! They kept Bristol and booted off Florence Henderson! |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 12:51 AM by Tx4obama
That's just not fair. Bristol got 6,6,6 from the judges Florence got 7,7,7 from the judges This is the first time this season that the lowest scored pair wasn't sent home!
And to make things worse here's Sarah Palin's tweet about it: "Florence Henderson... what a lovely lady! What a story! She reflects grace, beauty, energy, inspiration. America loves you, Florence." about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®
