Views on DU: 747 | We are about to enshrine that not only are we going to let the lawbreakers and torturers get away with it, but that they can never be prosecuted. Way to go, Obama and Holder.

1. Very, very disappointing |

Why does the fight against the tyranny of the imperial presidency have to continue when Bush and Cheney are out office?

though, maybe if you are measuring the gap between hopes and reality, that is true.
Dim Son was my most disappointing Pres. ever, if you are just counting the reality.

5. I disagree. I don't think that it goes far enough |

If only there was a word that can describe something more extreme than that, but I can't think of it right now. The idea of being disappointed stems from having very high expectations. As you put it, the gap between hopes and reality. Obama has had huge opportunities here that he has simply decided not to follow through on. For a while you could give him the benefit of the doubt, but at a certain point, you simply have to realize that it is no longer a matter of him not being able to do something, but him making the decision to not do it. He had all of the characteristics of the "perfect candidate" and won on that. The opportunity costs here will never be matched.
All in all, you could still take the hopeful argument that he is trying and could not get certain things accomplished in this poltical environment. This, however, is a different ball game. This is not a matter of him failing to rise above and beyond, instead it is him actually sinking below anything that Bush has done. "Disgusting" is very apropos. How does a constitutional professor even consider something like this? I wonder how Michele Obama reacts to decisions like these?
