1. Poor Decision

I truly do feel bad for this kid but I am haveing a hard time understanding why anyone would even consider getting near the gulf coast. That water is dangerous and will be for many years. How many more people need to learn the hard way?

2. Everyone keeps saying it's safe!!

BP, the government, the local officials, the EPA, NOAA. I try not to blame the victims. I also agree, it's not safe. I wouldn't go in the water.

7. We're told it's all better. Faulting the child, instead of the misinformation spewed by

the corporations, government and media, is ridiculous. How about directing your 'concern' at the culprits instead of the victims?

4. How does that work?

I would love some background on this, because I do not see how that would cause an enlarged heart in that amount of time. The rest all makes sense, but that does not fit for me.

I guess if the kid's lung was damaged from oil exposure it might ultimately cause an enlarged heart, but I can't quite understand how he could get into the water healthy and come out at the end of the swim with those two conditions....The woman on the video said he went swimming on August 30th...is two months enough time to enlarge a heart ?
I'm not doubting that the Gulf is a mess...just ignorant about how such things could come on so fast...

I figured folks here might have more understanding of the possibilities here than me. If is certainly possible he had a pre-existing condition. I am at a loss to explain this one.

8. The kids a liar!

I saw a BP executive go on national television saying how he would eat the seafood caught. They simply would not lie. :sarcasm:

On a less sarcastics note, there is almost an unspken assumption that the water is not safe to swim in and anybody who swims in it is clearly at fault for not knowing any better. At the same time, lettig BP get away with leaving sans cleanup. A worst possible combination IMHO.
