This hits home with me. I'm gay, and I have a gay nephew. Without realizing it, by having courage and living my life openly in an ultraconservative family, I set a good example for my nephew, who says he almost married a girl to avoid persecution from our family. He came out instead.

express my frustration with those of the "religious" community who view homosexuality as a sin or, worse, a lifestyle choice, something that can be overcome.
