Emanuel on Iraq Report: We don’t need a report that wins the Nobel Prize for creative statistics or the Pulitzer for fiction
September 7th, 2007 by Karina

As the Gavel noted yesterday, the Washington Post reported U.S. military leaders and the White House are “cherry-picking” data on violence in Iraq to bolster their claims that the President’s failed war strategy is working. In order to support this claim, military and Administration calculations are based on a system of categorizing and excluding statistics that “selectively ignored negative trends” and “puzzled” senior intelligence officials and the nation’s chief auditor and head of the Government Accountability Office.

This morning, Caucus Chair Rahm Emanuel took to the floor saying, “Instead of a new strategy for Iraq, the Bush Administration is cherry-picking the data to support their political objectives and preparing a report that will offer another defense of the President’s strategy. We don’t need a report that wins the Nobel Prize for creative statistics or the Pulitzer for fiction. Americans are demanding the facts, an end to this open-ended commitment, a surge on the political and diplomatic front. In short, the American people want a new direction in Iraq.”

So their justification for YOUR actions in supporting this invasion/occupation will be just as phony as yours.

I just want to know what you're going to do to end this war and NOT DO ANOTHER...

I just want to know when you're going to defund the bloated military and get to work with domestic priorities likel

oh, I don't know,

HEALTH CARE FOR ALL!!!

Or how about restoring Civil Rights!!!!?

Or how about funding Solar Energy vs. coal/oil/gas/nuclear!!!!?

3. Did he say something?
All I heard him say is "the American people want a different direction". OK, then lets put up a base to the north of Baghdad instead of the west. That's a different direction.

I guess it is better than saying nothing. And if enough DINOs get up the courage to say at least that much, maybe one day that will actually have the courage to actually take a real stand that would put a meaningful choice in front of Congress.
