9. I doubt it
Fox Blondes don't last long, and I doubt she's making enough to be worth $5 million. And she has that trailer trash feel, I don't think she's set to inherit anything.

4. If the guy gives his kids
5 million dollars 2 months before he dies, they'd have to pay taxes on it. Why should his being dead give his kids a pass on it? They are still a whole lot better off than before he gave them the money, dead or not.

24. That will be the next argument
If they get their way on this one, the argument will become "If he dies and I inherit it, it's tax free- but if he gives it to me while he's alive so he can see me enjoy it, I'll have to pay tax on it. How is that fair?".

28. Life sucks
when you're rich and come into money you didn't have to work for.

If i win $5,000,000 in the lottery why should I have to pay taxes on it? Inheriting a lot of money is kind of like winning the lottery IMHO. Didn't have to do a damn thing for either one.

6. Those who inherit fortunes believe they earned them
when in fact, they did not. Malcolm Forbes earned his fortune and was a moderate/realist. His son, Steve inherited his fortune and believes he earned it. Therefore he promotes this supply side nonsense.

8. We wouldn't need all that extra tax money "adding to the national debt" if we would quit the wars.
It's the people who profit from the wars who ought to be paying for them.

I was like, that is just not even possible! My cat, maybe (he's not the brightest cat in town), by Rep. Weiner, no way!

11. You know, I haven't thought about this much
because I doubt my kids will inherit much of anything from me, but I've never even considered that, yeah, these kids inheriting an estate haven't earned a damn penny of it. All they did was exist.

Some of the things that get by us are surprising when we stop and think about it. Ha.

I wonder if Megyn had even thought of that before? I doubt it. Yet she was steadfast in her desire to show Weiner up, so the truth didn't really matter much to her.

Fail.

13. Double taxation? WTF?
Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 05:23 PM by Roy Rolling
Let's take the analogy further. I earn $1,000 at my job and pay taxes on it leaving $900. Then I take the $900 and buy something at a store and they charge me a sales tax. I should be outraged!!! I already paid taxes on that money and now they wnat to charge me taxes again? That's double taxation!

These talking heads and Teabaggers only know one thing: what is written on the Republican talking points and/or said on the Rush Limblowhard show.

21. It gets worse!
So you've spent your $900 and paid sales tax on the transaction. The store owner uses that money to pay his employees, who then have to pay tax on it again. Then they spend it, and pay tax, and so on.

"Double Taxation" is just a code phrase for "We don't want to pay that tax". Of course, if you look at it this way the same dollar is double and triple, and whatever taxed, because properly speaking, the money isn't taxed at all. The transactions are taxed. Inheritance is a transaction just like buying something is a transaction.

You'd think these publicans (if they can drop a syllable, so can I!) would be clamoring for US Currency to be marked, to make sure that every dollar is only taxed once.

26. Publicans. I like it.
Especially since it's also a slang word my friends and I used in high school and college for port-a-johns (Public-cans? Get it?) Very appropriate.

27. publicans
Actually "publican" is an old-fashioned British word for a man who runs a bar "pub." In the latest issue of Burke's Peerage I saw that JFK's grandfather was a publican in Boston.

14. Her Money
She didn't earn the money, she took the money through her ridiculus salary and we all are paying for it through high cable or satellite bills. I don't think anyone who makes that kind of money really earns it. They make money through the exploitation of other hard working people who have lost control of their labor to the rich.

That was great when he started to look around and clap his hands and asked her if she was done. Well played!

and discuss if that tax is valid or not then to ask why all the people complaining about the deficit are okay with the tax cut around the death tax.

30. Estate Tax Question
I always want to ask one of these people why is it that if I win the lottery with a dollar I've already paid taxes on, I should have to pay over 50% of my winnings in taxes, but people that INHERIT money that has already been taxed should NOT have to pay any taxes on it?

Some how I never hear anyone crying about all the taxes lottery winners have to pay.
