1. Methinks... the rich are gonna get what they deserve... soon... |
|
It's like these f***ers have been 'asking' for it, for a couple of decades already.
They've just crossed the 'let-them-eat-cake' line, IMO.

11. Here in the USA, tuitions go up each and every year at most universities |
|
and the students just take out bigger loans.
I don't know what it costs to attend "uni" in the UK, but I think it's a small sum, not like $25-50 THOUSAND per year as it often is here in the states.
Maybe someone can give me more info on university costs for students there.
Even though I'm generally not in favor of these kinds of demonstrations, I just want to understand the situation a little better.

14. Which is what? I'd like some details |
|
I happen to know several students in UK Universities.
They come from upper middle income households, and are able to live quite well at "uni"s
They don't have two hundred thousand dollar debts to pay off after as some Americans do.
What is the cost of a year at "uni" in the UK? The cost to students?
I suspect it's nowhere near what it is in the USA.
Just sayin'

12. I don't think this will happen in the US in quite that way. |

Middle-class Americans very believe that their misfortune is their own fault. They do not understand macroeconomics.
Ordinary people sense something is wrong, but they do not know about the fraud that has caused this.
I would be just as ignorant as they had I not been in a position to seen documents with my own eyes that showed how the mortgage brokers accomplished the fraud at the very level of mortgage applications and the mortgage awarding process. The borrowers did not have the information or understanding to see what was going on.
Of course, I realize that not all the bad mortgages were due to fraud. There were a lot of vultures on all sides.
Americans buy into the idea that everyone can be rich, and that they can too if they just play the game right. Americans are convinced that they can get something for nothing. The truth is that you can only get something for nothing if you choose your parents well. Make sure they are wealthy and have a lot of social connections.
I must add that this violence is unbelievable. It will not end well. We don't need that violence here. We need to work together, but the violence is unacceptable. Violence just leads to more violence.
And it is very easy for a march or a demonstration to get out of hand. We have to find some other way to get our point across. Find some friends and make an appointment to talk to your member of Congress. That is the way you organize. And if your representative or senator will not talk to you, get a large number of people to sign a petition to get time with him or her. Take your friends with you. Maybe some will have to stand outside. Demand that your Congressman talk to constituents. My Congressman does it frequently. Put pressure on individuals in Congress.
No one pays any attention to demonstrations any more. And violence just causes authorities to feel self-righteous.
Most British people are probably as angry at the demonstrators as they are at the government at this point.
