This is good, intended to inspire and give hope. You can't arrest an idea.

9. Organizations must now be organized around sets of principles... |
|
not around leaders.
If you accept and act on that set of principles, you are a member. This is the secret to the success of organizations like Al Qaeda and the Tea Party--their "leaders" are disposable illusions.
Julian Assange, like Osama bin Laden, is a figurehead, and his persecution is helping to build dissent, but Wikileaks doesn't need him to exist any more than Al Qaeda needs bin Laden. Like Al Qaeda, Wikileaks is franchising and diversifying. What's being reported as dissent within Wikileaks is nothing but the proliferation of organizations that follow the idea of Wikileaks in different ways.
Wikileaks is an idea, which means that it can continue to exist without regard to how many people are arrested and imprisoned for supporting it.
By the way, that "idea" is: transparency; informed consent of the governed; no immunity from the law regardless of position, power, or economic status; no people having "exceptional" authority to inflict suffering on others; rejection of empire.
I'm not championing the tactics of Al Qaeda, merely their organizational genius, which should be emulated because of its obvious success at thwarting the efforts of the world's superpower--draining it of treasure and life and credibility.
Recommended Reading: "The Anti-American Manifesto" by Ted Rall, where this concept of leaderless organizations based on principles is discussed in more detail.
