Visa should be ashamed. They make it look like they care about the good people of New Orleans with all the fun they're having on Bourbon St. They neglect to mention that when Katrina hit and power and phones were out, merchants were forced to use the old-fashioned slider machines to process credit cards.
All fine and good but Visa charges retailers about twice as much to process those paper-receipt transactions as they do with an electronic transactions. You would have thought they would give merchants and consumers a break. After all, it was the worst natural disaster in our country's history. Instead, Visa saw dollar signs and millions of dollars in new interchange fee income. Business owners were forced to pass along these fees to the people of New Orleans.
Not to mention the ad makes people who use cash feel like a**holes.
