President Obama's tax deal endangers his re-election chances and the legitimacy of the Democratic Party.

13. No, it is a reality.
The MSM is a big business that depends on ratings. This doesn't say a host can't have his or her heart in their programming. I believe Rachel and Keith do but there is something about Ed that has always rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think his new found progressivism is very sincere and his rantings come off as phony to me.

2. Why should he get the blame for something the electorategave him no alternative to do. Sure..
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 08:06 PM by ProgressOnTheMove
there is citizens united to blame but it's the electorates job to be informed. Collectively we chose a tax cut for the rich like it or not, not the President's fault. I'm not a conservative but I accept the writing on the wall as painful as it is. I kept on and on that this would start a domino effect if we didn't do everything in the midterms it's here.

8. He DID NOT have to cut the payroll tax. That was his decision
unilaterally. I blame him for that.

The Senators who just got elected or reelected can hope Americans will forget, but Obama and other democratic 2012 candidates are in big trouble. The attack on Social Security alone without tax marginal tax rate increases on the wealthy would be a political diaster.

After Obama and the Senate Dems ram this through, they will move on to bigger and better reactionary and regressive policies, cutting Social Security and Medicare, instituting a flat income tax, instituting VAT taxes. These people are neanderthals.

Of course the timing puts it after the Nov 2012 elections. How convenient. But what that cynical timing fails to consider is that the tax cuts on the rich and corporations along with the wars will cause the economy to completely collapse by then.

9. It won't haunt him if he runs against tax cuts for the rich in 2012.

12. If dead enders like Ed keep running him down, it won't help
If you're worried about his re-election, get on board. Even KO treated it like a smaller issue last night.
