The Articles of Impeachment for George W. Bush and Richard Cheney, President and Vice President of the United States of America
Hear ye, hear ye Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, and all who love this nation, gather ye round that you may hear the call to impeach George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney, President and Vice President of these United States of America. Two-hundred seventeen years ago, our founders, after lengthy consideration, adopted our beloved Constitution, the great instrument of democracy under which we have since lived and prospered, and in it they made provision that the people of this great country could choose to impeach any and all of our leaders who would act in the manner of kings. Not less than six times in this Constitution are we reminded of the duty and responsibility of the people to use this power of impeachment.
The United States House of Representatives has the sole power to bring forward such articles of impeachment, which, while at this instance may be only accusations of wrong doing, might prove to be a potent force in protecting the rights of the people.
The United States Senate has the sole power to try such articles of impeachment and to convict or to find not guilty those so accused. George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney are by these presents accused of undermining the dignity and integrity of the Office of President and Vice President. They have brought disrepute to those offices and to our Nation, betraying our trust, and have acted in a manner subversive of our Constitution and of the rules of law and justice which are embodied in it, all to the manifest injury of the people of the Untied States which subversions include but are not limited to the following: • First, by deceiving the Congress, the media and the American public about the reasons for going to war in Iraq; • Two, by secret spying on Americans without search warrants or judicial review; • Three, by claiming Presidential authority to detain indefinitely, anyone, including US citizens, as enemy combatants, without charge, without council, without the right of habeas corpus; • Four, by the torture and abuse of military detainees in Guantanamo, Iraq and Afghanistan; • Five, by covert abduction of detainees to secret prisons in other countries to be interrogated through torture; • Six, by undermining the Constitutional separation of powers by changing hundreds of Congressional laws with signing statements and acting in defiance of Congressional subpoenas; • And seven, by abusing Presidential power in keeping secret their actions from legislative, judicial and public scrutiny.
Our only line of defense at this juncture is the mechanism urged by the founders, the mechanism of impeachment.
Therefore, whereas George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney by such conduct warrant impeachment and trial, and, if found guilty, subsequent removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the government of these United States of America.
