3. Me neither, but I'm not signing up due to it.
That's why I unrecced it.. Social networks have been marketed to death, such as Facebook and Twitter, and I believe that it enables too much concentrated data to be available for the shrinks at DARPA to see how we think and behave. YouTube is just another means of gathering intelligence, benign or not.

Did you know that Twitter has not ever made a profit in it's entire existence? One must ask, then why is it valued at 30 Billion on Wall Street?

It's pretty clear that overnight almost, Twitter was unleashed upon America via CNN, MSNBC, CBS, Palin, Obama, and all the rest almost overnight. The MSM is totally invested in this devious method to take the pulse of the American Psyche. I wouldn't doubt that the USG is heavily invested in it as well, considering that the USG is Corporate owned.

The Government at the moment is scrambling to find out how we think, and is grasping at straws in order to collect data from a now very cautious population, and they hope that most people will be too stupid to not notice how much power they give away to some unknown mega corporation such as Facebook and Twitter.

4. Thanks very much Grinchie!
Thank you very much for such a detailed reply to my question! I agree with everything you said & it is getting more scary by the day isn't it? I don't use twitter but I never knew that about them not ever making a profit, makes one wonder hey.

8. I have a correction on the 30B Dollar Valuation I heard.. it's 3.7B
Apparently my original source lost a decimal point, as outlined by this article in the Wall Street Journal today.

Profit Elusive, but Twitter Gets $3.7 Billion Value

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704828104576021954210929460.html

Still, the fact remains that huge amounts of money are being funneled into this organization. Real time data, in easily digestible 140 character chunks. Perfect for the mainframes at the NSA to churn through looking for patterns.

They have been unable to churn through message text larger than this, and have thousands of petabytes sitting in storage until they can, which will take years. Not very desirable for real time surveillance.

Twitter is ideal for Software Processing, Categorization and Storage.

If I had faith that it was being used for the common good, I would have no problem with it, but the fact remains that we are seeing a desperate attempt to figure out how badly they screwed the pooch in order to retain some sort of control.

Personally, I think the rockfall has started, and eventually it's going to come crashing down with an awesome unstoppable forced when Americans wake up to the Ponzi scheme foisted upon them for the past 40 years.

5. That's strange, it wasnt private when i posted it
Edited on Wed Dec-15-10 05:13 PM by Lars77
It's from Al Jazeera's official channel. No idea what's going on.

I'm logged on and it's still showing private, so i guess they wanted to make the video unaccessible for some reason.

Probably a call from Boeings lawyers.

6. Holy shit, watch the full Al Jazeera report (52min)
Edited on Wed Dec-15-10 05:30 PM by JohnyCanuck
See it here:

Looks very damning for Boeing and its subcontractor. According to the report, the subcontractor building critical fuselage components was supposed to use computer controlled processes but instead were using hand build procedures and parts were being shipped out to Boeing out of design tolerances.
ETA: and then the out of tolerance parts were forced fit to make them work which would effect the structural integrity of the airframe.
Found the video embedded in this report on the topic.

9. Thank you so much for the working link.
As an Ex-Whistleblower, I know what it's like to stand up for ethics and honesty and experiencing retaliation because of it. At this point, I have no remorse over doing the right thing, but initially, losing ones career can be very traumatic, and I believe this is the evil of Capitalism that enslaves all of the enablers to becomes accessories to the corruption, for the nominal income provided by a paycheck created out of thin air in order to live "The Good Life", or "The American Dream"

This was a very good report on the self dealing and corruption that exists in washington and most any corporation, whether it is County of State Government as well.. They are all operating under Corporate rules. No accountability whatsoever.

7. Kick for the travelling public....
who are already taking it in the shorts (literally and figuratively) by the TSA gropers and Michael "no,-I-don't-know-what-conflict-of-interest-means" Chertoff's radiation scanners, and now it looks like that same government is working hand in glove with Boeing to cover-up the use of faulty parts in the assembly of the Boeing 737NG aircraft. According to some of the aviation experts and Boeing whistleblowers interviewed on the Al Jazeera program linked above, these parts could cause fail catastrophically in flight bringing an aircraft down. Come to think of it, if the US government really is so damned concerned about our safety in the air that it insists on having the right to grope our privates every time we get on an aircraft, why has it done zilch about taking corrective action to ensure aircraft that are flying with out of spec parts are inspected and fixed.

12. Haven't seen any comments from the aviation professionals
here at DU on this scandal. For myself, I am just glad I am not an airline employee that has to fly on these 737NGs with the bogus, un-certified parts on a regular basis.
