Actual journalism. Perspective on life in Afghanistan from someone who spends a lot of time there.
I'd forgotten that this sort of thing existed.

1. The mercenary from GQ
said the key to winning the war was control of the urban areas. That didn't work in Vietnam. It didn't work for the Japanese in China or the Russians in Afghanistan or the British before them, and it still hasn't worked in Iraq for us. Using that tactic, the occupying force controls the country by day and the insurgency controls it by night and the war goes on and on and on to the great benefit of war profiteers and mercenaries. Wars are won only by destroying an enemies will to resist, not by controlling cities.

2. You do know this guy is the VP of Good Knight Security right?
Look him up on google. He is a PR guy. Not sure who the number #1 guy for the company is but I wouldn't doubt it if he is a Karzai ass licker. Says he runs "carpet making" operations for widows of the occupation. Sounds like PR talk for a sweatshop considering they get paid 2.00 a day and the rugs sale for about 3-5,000.00 each up here.
