4. They voted on cloture today |
|
they only need 51 votes on the actual vote so it SHOULD pass but it actually has not yet.
BTW- the obvious food safety bill passed both houses but because it didn't pass the House first (money involved) they have to redo it and the Repubs who voted for it now ( *cough* got wind from the Agri-lobby) are blocking it.
Nothing is guaranteed.

They voted on cloture this morning. Then at 3pm ET they had the FINAL vote. The repeal of DADT passed 65-31. The Congress is done. Now the president will sign the bill sometime next week (before he leaves for Hawaii Wednesday).

Note:
It will be some time before the actual rules are repealed in the services. What today's bill does is direct the Service Chiefs to start the process. It won't be until they certify all the training is done., etc, before the actual repeal of the rules. Could be months. Could be years. We'll see.

6. Could you please edit and correct your subject line... |
|
The final vote has indeed occurred and passed 65:31. That report is old, reporting the cloture vote, 63:33.
