man....all these recent polls and surveys, that tell us what a lot of us already know. Fox News makes you stupid. no. they are already stupid. Fox News just makes them more stupid. Obama slids to new low in approval ratings. yea.....wonder why. and besides, his lowest approval rating is still twice as high as Bush's best.
I lost an iq point just saying this.
thanks for posting CherylK one day.....sites like this (DU) will be the only source for "Truthful" "News"
happy holidays to all !

2. Correlation, not causation |
|
Which way does the effect go, or are they both results of something else?
It could be that people without empathy find it easier to become rich. It could be that families that have been rich for many generations inherit less empathy. It could be that the behaviors and thought patterns involved in staying rich destroy one's empathy. It could be that one is punished out of empathy if raised in upper-class schools and families. It could be that the empathetic can't bear to stay rich if and when they do achieve it. It could be that the lack of empathy is a byproduct of sociopathy, which makes it easier to become rich.
And, of course, someone is going to come along and argue that this proves that empathy is an intrinsically bad thing.

but mediocre people who think "one day, they'll hit the lottery and be rich," too think this way.

Would like to see another study that deals with people's levels of fairness and honesty viv a vis their income levels.
