Kerry Rips McConnell On START: ‘Just Because You Say It Doesn’t Make It True’

Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) confronted Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) immediately after he spoke on ratification of the New START treaty this morning. McConnell’s complaints about the process being rushed were too much for Kerry, who had overseen the treaty’s ratification and has frequently bent over backwards to appease Republican concerns. Kerry ripped McConnell:

I would say to my friend from Kentucky: Just because you say it, doesn’t make it true. Our friends on the other side of the aisle have a habit of repeating things that have been completely refuted by every fact there is. … The facts are that this treaty is not being rushed.

This treaty has been delayed at the request of Republicans. It was delayed 13 times… to have more time to deal with the modernization issue, which the administration has completely, totally, thoroughly dealt with in good faith. I’d like to know where the good faith comes from on the other side. They {the administration} put extra money in, they sat and negotiated, they sent people to Arizona to brief Senator Kyl personally. For weeks we delayed the process of moving forward on this treaty in order accommodate our friends on the other side of the aisle. And now fully accommodated, with their requests entirely met, they come back and say ‘oh its being rushed.’ Well Mr. President today marks our sixth day of debate on the New START treaty. That’s a fact. … I mean is there no shame.

14. Hell, for the most part
when Republicans say it, it isn't true.

Sadly, we don't have much media to report the truth out there, and it seems to have become a team sport for FOX's viewers, irregardless of their income, job-status, or any other actual fact.

3. Now is the time the Dems needs to get their message together and start saying The Repubs are playing
politics with our security.

Can you imagine if it was the Dems blocking this treaty?

12. That's just traditional Senate protocol
They're friends like the Black Panthers and the KKK, but they still observe the old decorum.

15. I wish they would just say the truth...
The Republicans are against this treaty for the same reason they are against every other policy they were for until OBAMA WAS FOR IT! They just don't want Obama's name on it, period.

They would like to see the economy & perhaps the country destroyed so that they can step into power without having to do a thing...Much like many dictators step into power when there is chao & uncertainty. Simply disgusting!

16. With all due respect, Mr. Kerry
Now you see what you get when you move to accommodate the thugs.

A story:
A young woman needed to cross a body of water. As she got near the edge, a snake came up to her and said "oh please, Miss, I need to cross the river, too. Would you put me in your pocket and take me across with you?"

"But you'll bite me if I pick you up..." said the woman.

"No, I promise you I won't. Pleeeeeeeeeese??", replied the snake.

The woman picked up the snake, put it in her pocket and crossed the river. When she got to the other side, she reached into her pocket to retrieve the snake and the snake bit her.

"Ow!! You said you wouldn't bite me", she cried.

"come now. You knew what I was when you picked me up, but still you picked me up and put me in your pocket".

STOP MAKING DEALS WITH THE DEVIL AND PERHAPS YOU WON'T GET BURNED.

The day the Dems grow a fuckin' spine and stop going to gun fights armed with Nerf bats is the day that the People's hope will spark once again. You all have let the thugs put you exactly where you find yourself.

17. Mitch is a repulsive liar.(typical republican I call him)
Frist was a cat killing hack.
Trent was a butt munching cheerleader.

How could any democrat in Washington have any, "Friends on the other side of the aisle?" Those anti-Americans who want the president and the country to fail, are no friends of mine, Senator Kerry.

There's battle lines being drawn,
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong,

The neocons are not happy with two shooting wars and a war on Terra, they want to ease us back into the cold war too. Maybe they want another "Pearl Harbor" and some more corporate welfare.

18. He should answer his own question....
Senator Kerry asks "is there no shame from the other side of the aisle?" I am not nearly as smart as the senator but even I know the answer to that one: "NO, THERE IS NO SHAME FROM REPUBLICANS" They are heartless, selfish, and deceitful in pursuit of their twisted ideology. Having no shame on top of that is the least of their lack of character. They are simply too stupid to be ashamed.
