1. Barney Frank is so right.
Does the guy doing the interview think that the gay guys in his junior and senior high school phys ed classes had separate but equal shower facilities? How silly can you get?

2. They don't need a REAL
reason for bigotry. They can just make one up.

I saw this piece on MSNBC or somewhere the other night and it was so funny. Barney delivered his best line at the end. What is with these conservatives. Need I ask! These type of questions are what feeds that hatred and bigotry toward gays, Hispanics, Muslims, etc. Talk about perpetuating a stereotype...this guy had his questions down pat. Sadly, there are thousands of knuckleheads like him out there who are just as misinformed and bigoted. Just what kind of response was he expecting to get? Do these people think there haven't ever been any gay troops in our midst or that if they are gay that they are going to be checking out everyone's "package" when they take a shower? Ludicrous.

5. To be fair though, It isn't all that hard to make a conservative look like and idiot
they do it so effortlessly on a daily basis.

6. So... don't shower.... if you're a homophobe.
After about a week or so then we'll know who the stupid dumbfuck homophobes are.... 10 minutes before they enter the room.

9. The service men/women already shower with gay
personnel.

They are just not allowed to ask if someone is homosexual, or are they allowed to disclose that they are a homosexual. (Most soldiers I know don't want to know who is gay anyway.)

DADT protects a soldier from being interrogated/quizzed about being gay. Now if the soldier lies about being gay in the military on entry at MEPS, the soldier can be imprisoned for falsifying a federal document. (Repealing DADT is probably a bad thing.) Something that is personal information can now be used against the soldier if the military needs to. The military operates with different rules than in the civilian world. As a soldier you can expect to have no rights because your ass belongs to Uncle Sam once you sign your military contract.

I personally think DADT is a good thing, it protects a soldier of either sexual orientation and should not be repealed. (I'm a non-gay combat veteran.)

10. I personally think DADT is a good thing,
:eyes:

Alas, it doesn't work, because the military was actively seeking gays, y'know. And what you seem to miss is that everyone assumes you are straight...which is a lie. It's not equal... either/or. It also makes it possible to blackmail hiding gays... by the military of even the enemy.

Haven't thought it through much, have you?

I say we implement a new policy: ETH... Expose The Homophobe. If you are found to have any prob whatsoever with your fellow soldiers' sexual orientation, then you are fired. How about that! That would be more helpful than DADT.

11. DADT does work.
It's isn't broke. (The military does not seek gays.)

It can be a loophole for some people to get out of the service. (It's like a chapter 7 dishonorable discharge.)

It also keeps people from being persecuted for their sexuality. (Soldiers do more than razz other soldiers if they decide they don't like someone in their unit.)

Military rules, laws, and customs are very different from civilian life. Their subculture does not permit an open society of men frolicking amongst the tulips. (Combat soldiers must earn the privilege of growing hair on their head in basic training.)

The idea of being open and free in the military is some sort of form of mental masturbation. Once you sign your contract, you are government property. You have no rights. Sex is something you do in off duty hours and as long as you are not caught in the act, you can be as freaky as you want to be. (If you get caught with gerbils up your ass, you will probably go see a mental health review board.)
