The process of fracking that is currently in use creates environmental nightmares. Plus the leakage from natural gas plants that can't be seen by the naked eye, methane, can cause just as much damage as co2.

A big part of the reason for the rise in natural gas production is the use of lower-cost gas recovery techniques like hydraulic-fracturing (fracking). It would behoove people to learn about the environmental issues associated with frackng.
