I notice that those who brought him down did not use guns.
I wonder how many people there had guns on them, however.
I would bet that at least one person, possibly more, had guns. And I think this story indicates how useless guns can be in a situation in which there is a crowd, even a small crowd, of people. The more guns in use in such a situation, the more likely some random person will be shot.
Does permitting the carrying of guns in crowds make people more safe? or less safe? I'm not sure there is a certain answer, but it is something that people should think about.
Here, the likely presence of someone carrying a gun within shooting proximity of the gunman was not what ended the attack. It was people being extraordinarily heroic and putting their fears aside and their lives at risk.
