2. I thought they meant that anything's OK as long as it's

not dueling. Kind of a way to say "what we're doing isn't so bad, look at the way we used to act". Where else in our society is it acceptable to talk about opponents in violent or disgusting ways? Would you get a job by telling the interviewer the other applicants are sleeping with his wife? Do tennis players say they will consider second amendment remedies if they can't get the job done on the court?

4. I think you're giving them the assumption of "reason"

They don't deserve that. I interpreted that statement as implying that "calm" days of our forefather's time were still calm despite dueling. She might have intended us to extrapolate to "everything is OK as long as we're not dueling" but that is giving her way too much credit. It was an astoundingly stupid statement. I think Sarah didn't even manage to get the talking point straight even though she got the "memo" from headquarters.

Shouldn't we just turn Palin off. She is a clown. We all know it.

We should be talking about better gun laws and necessary funding and access to mental health care.
