The Supreme Court's ruling on Citizens United v. F.E.C. is turning a year old this month. Since then we've seen bags of money pour into political campaigns from corporate and anonymous donors. The GOP regained the House. And Murray Hill, Inc. - a Maryland corporation - really did run for Congress.

If there another run in the works for 2012? Here's what the corporation's designated human has to say.

1. One Share, One Vote!
And they who hold the most shares, vote the most.

I get it...

3. Is this real?
Is it from the "Onion" or another satirical source?

5. I guess
once our bought and paid for SCOTUS decided corporations were people, this was inevitable. Unless Citizens United is revoked, Corporatism (Fascism) will soon be America's "official" form of government.

6. I does look like the trend. Question is, how to battle this decision? n/t

7. I think
the only way to battle this is to have the decision overturned. Millions of Americans and politicians have attempted to get the SCOTUS to do just that, to no avail. Perhaps if these same politicians started an impeachment inquiry against those that voted to give our nation (officially) to the corporations and went through with the impeachment, these SCOTUS elites might retreat (for now).
FDR "packed" the SCOTUS with extra judges to get his policies approved. This is still allowable, President Obama could do the same, in order to change the Citizens United decision. Of course this would take a President with huge balls willing to suffer the right-wing attacks (probably physical these days). Mostly, the President would have to be so passionate against this corporate takeover, that he would be willing to put his ass on the line and suffer the attacks by the centrists (right-wingers) in "both" parties.
Not much we can do it seems....

8. The other way to go about it is through legislation, I suppose ...
... but it's hard to believe that politicians on the Hill would even conceive of turning off the firehouse of money that Citizens United has turned on for them.

9. You're so right.
Politics has become so lucrative even before "Citizens United", that "public service" mainly seems to draw those who want to become wealthy (wealthier). Our political system, because of our economic system,IMO, has become so crooked that it is unrecognizable in the last 3 decades.
