Ongoing BP Cleanup (Tarballs Washing Up), WEAR Pensacola, January 14, 2010: http://www.weartv.com/newsroom/featur...

Transcript Excerpts WEAR reporter Laurie Bernstein: At the same time, more submerged oil is being found, in the form of underwater tar mats. ... And scientists say its something we will be dealing with for years. Dr. Dick Snyder, University of West Florida professor: Man look at all this oil... Any place sand is dynamic, good chance we're going to have buried oil, that includes sand bars just off beach, we don't know how much is out there or where it is... WEAR: Those underwater tar mats are continuing to produce large tar balls and patties on the beaches nearby. Snyder: This is still loaded with PAH's... WEAR: The question is....will that oil dissolve enough into the water to cause a human health risk...

BP sucks!!!!! I am so sick of their smug excuses!! And how dare they even consider laying off t5he crews in Pensacola area? I certainly will NOT be spending my tourist buck on a toxic beach! How shortsighted are the city and county officials there? They need our dollars to survive. Cleaning that mess is priority #1. Not grovelling at BP's beck and call!! Simply incomprehensible. I am amazed that any of the locals stand for it for one second.

As some may recall Pensacola Greg Hall was videoing the tarballs every day and lost his job because of it. He worked at a car dealership and they said his job or his videos! I am not surprised at all that tarballs are still washing ashore. Greg showed them to us every day for months and I posted them all on DU until he was forced to pull his videos from Youtube. He showed us the clean-up workers saying they'd be fired if they dug beneath the surface,,,he showed us a massive layer of tar just beneath the surface that lay untouched. Of course it washes in and out with the tide. Christ on a trailer hitch! What do they think tides do to sand? BP knew and hoped it would just wash out of sight out of mind. They are CRIMINALS.

1. The public can help!! Identify polluted areas
so BP can deny there's a problem. We all know that drill!

5. It seems to be floating all over the place...
And some speculate it may be responsible for bird and fish deaths in a wide area.

9. You should be fuming...
... As a former 30 year Floridian, I'm fuming!

This is like a time-released capsule of health crisis and we don't seem to be bothered, as we are at the top of the food chain.
