3. Back in the '70's, I worked for a German guy who'd been a prisoner on the Russian Front |

It got so cold in the prison camp that he lost all his hair. We were a construction crew, and he'd learned his skill the old way, apprenticing himself from the age of 14. He talked a lot about the war, and it was interesting to see things from his perspective.
He always made a point of hiring a lot of African American guys onto the crew- he said the only reason he was alive is because of the African American troops who'd sneak him food, clothes, and blankets.
