2000 doctors and medical students from around the country signed a letter to Congress asking them not to repeal health reform. The letter along with stories were delivered to Speaker John Boehner's home district office in Ohio. The petition is here: http://files.www.drsforamerica.org/take-action/health-reform-must-move-forward/doctors-no-repeal-petition-final-01062010.pdf

1. Sure, but the AMA isn't a fan.
The sections that benefit consumers will be targeted for repeal, those that benefit corporations will be left intact or strengthened.

2. Exactly, and with the mandated trillions, eventually they will get their way, unless,

we take this opportunity to compromise with the Republicans and repeal the part of the bill they claim to hate the most - the mandate - and leave the rest of the bill in tact.

3. Ah, but you and I both know their hatred of the mandate is only a smokescreen.
Their corporate masters love the mandate.

They'll try to weaken or eliminate consumer-friendly items, claiming they wanted to kill the mandate, but couldn't, because of those mean Democrats.

coming out and fighting against the mandate (which has been ruled unconstitutional), we will get ourselves back on the side of the majority on this issue - and even usurp some of the teabagger types.

They will be spending the mandating trillions to eliminate the real reforms in the bill even if we do not come out against the mandate.

If we can succeed in eliminating the mandate, it will put Medicare for All or a public option back on the table, as we bleed big insurance of their profits (theoretically, according the their own rhetoric).

"A CNN/Opinion Research poll showed that only 38 percent now favor language "requiring all Americans who do not have health insurance to get it." Support fell six points from August, when it was at 44 percent. Opposition to the provision has risen to 60 percent from 56 in August. Support for the individual mandate was at a high in November, when 49 percent said they backed it. " - 12/27/10

"That's Bullshit" with Sam Seder:

Pointing out Bullshit so you don't step in it. This week, on behalf of the lesser people, Sam calls Bullshit! on having to fight a Democratic Administration over the Alan Simpson co-chaired, Debt Commission and the false claim that Social Security has anything to do with our deficit and needs to be cut.
