1. Sounds like we have a major problem.
Oh well, both parties seem to be happy to continue down this path.

3. How bad must things get to arrest this trend?
The status quo is hellbent on accelerating this trend and those who speak of even _address_ this problem, let alone arrest it, are marginalized as kooks by both parties.

I really don't see a way out, given our present system. The genie is SO out of the bottle.

4. 2010 is more than $252 billion
The trade deficit with China throughout 2010 will be more than $252 billion. This number only includes January to November. Since December statistics for the trade deficit will not be released until next month and the past two months have brought trade deficits with China a bit over $25 billion, the actual trade deficit with China for 2010 will probably be about $275 billion. This means 2010 will be a record year in regard to the trade deficit with China. The current record year is 2008, when there was an annual deficit with China of $268 billion. Check this page for the monthly trade numbers with China.

I like Thom Hartmann, but almost every video I see of him is easy to criticize and it's usually possible to make a better or more complete argument. His producers and researchers could do more. Though, I do like he at least is a voice for important issues, but he needs to get better.

5. This century will be the Rise of China. THERE IS NO STOPPING HER.
China just out-bid GE for a major deal. China is buying up land, resources, companies faster than you can blink, AND she is lending money to Third-World nations for infra-structure, etc.

Conquering the world.
