21. I work with a guy who paid 500 bucks for a picture with Palin

Some kind of fundraiser. He paid another hundred bucks for the meal.

No--he could not afford it and admitted it. We both work an average blue collar job.

But he's hooked. He has a family--three girls and his wife and yes--they could have used the money on something important.

He told me when she lost the vice presidency he had heart palpitations and was a real mess.

For whatever reason--she has a true and rabid cult following.

When you get that kind of following, this is the kind of thing you see. It's almost a religion and they've made her a messianic figure.

The saddest part of the whole thing is if you listen close they are lip syncing. I can hear the ol' boys feeble voice under the bold vocals. And as for poor ol' Gurdy up there dancing round waiting for her part, well it is just sad. At least they have their tea party patriots who are proud of them. For me it is just sad.

At first I thought they were singing over the record, but on closer listening I see now that the weak voice is his. It's also clear that he hasn't fully memorized the lyrics- he's just kind of mumbling along with the music.
