3. One of my biggest complaints about the RW panel guests is that they
ALL must be trained on talking so fast they don't let anyone else in.

Rachel snowed him with her facts and her ability to outshine him...which you don't see very often, as they won't shut up long enough to get a word in edgewise.

I'm at the point where I hate interviews with right wing pundits anywhere near a mike.

6. they are trained to act that way. same guys who brought
the rich all those tax cuts knew they couldn't really defend them, so they learned to blow the debate apart. frank luntz and all that, all part of the same deal.

love that rachel. maybe that approach can catch on.

7. the speak fast without end to filibuster
and some wonder why we on the left say, these people aren't worthy of politics... they spoil everything they touch. Debate is only good when both are being honest, and the right wing knows that. Check out Coulter's Goebbels rip-off, on how to Talk to a Liberal.

They deserve to live in Somalia where there is low tax if any... see how far their greed gets them there without the tax funded infrastructure that allowed them to get as wealthy as they have gotten. No appreciation or gratitude, just delusion.

5. God, I love her.
The RW jerk said several times, "Facts are facts," and I only wish Rachel had thrown that back on him. She is ABSOLUTELY correct about what happened to incomes under Reagan, and I also believe there was little or no job growth under him.

In Republican administrations, jobs remain flat or go down. Under Democrats, and under higher taxes, jobs increase.

if they talk over people stating that their lies are "facts" that they then become facts.

Not so. Rachel is right, they are wrong.

It's so frustrating to watch it in our lifetime. It's like we are witnesses to this alternate reality that is played out before our eyes.

14. Is that guy on drugs?
I want some of that.

Because if he thinks wages for the middle class have not been stagnant for years he must be taking something. Anyone in the middle class KNOWS that's BS.

I may get a raise every year or not but it sure as heck is not keeping up with inflation.

The upper class has done VERY well.

I'm glad Rachel had facts on her side but I guess if he thought he could just talk over them it wouldn't matter. Unfortunately for him---no one needs statistics to show them what they already know. We're living it.

He's clueless.

Edited on Sat Jan-22-11 06:49 PM by JHB
He was born in 1960, and take a look at his bio below: it starts in 1983 (circa age 23, pretty much right out of university), and from there it's one conservative spin-tank, propaganda outlet, or political campaign after another.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Moore_(economist)">his Wikipedia page:
Early career
From 1983 through 1987, Moore served as the Grover M. Hermann Fellow in Budgetary Affairs at the Heritage Foundation. Moore also was a fellow of the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank.

Moore was the senior economist of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee under Chairman Dick Armey of Texas. There, he was also an architect of the Armey flat tax proposal in 1995. He was also part of the research team hired by Americans For Fair Taxation to create the FairTax, the most co-sponsored tax reform proposal in Congress. He is currently a partner in the econometrics firm Arduin, Laffer & Moore Econometrics.

Moore resigned his position as president of the Club for Growth in December 2004. His opponents within the organization faulted him with disorganized management, while his supporters credited him with raising $20 million to fund candidates for the 2004 elections.

Free Enterprise Fund
In 2005, he founded the 501 c(4) Free Enterprise Fund with other prominent Club for Growth members including Arthur Laffer and Mallory Factor. Under Moore's direction, the Free Enterprise Fund lobbied for Social Security privitization, the permanent repeal of estate tax, and for tort reform. It is also opposed to the Sarbanes-Oxley law.

Wall Street Journal
On May 31, Moore left the Free Enterprise Fund to serve on the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal.

Don't you just love "free market" ccheerleaders who never spent a moment of their lives actually trying to support themselves in one?

24. Ah, the boneheads of my own generation.
The dream of making it rich without having to actually create anything in the process was such a draw for people in the 1980s.

Reagan's perceived "success" was in moving money to the upper class while riding on the goodwill and fortune of America up to that point in time. He and all the other right-wing followers have since been pissing that all away. Reagan only looked good because he operated at the beginning of the dismantling of unions and our social safety net. It's not so easy to hide the ugly truth of their failed policies now.

Moore is obviously a jewel in the right-wing cesspool. He obviously learned all the stunts - never stop talking, assert talking points, never concede anything, don't bother listening carefully or considering anything said, just say no to every counter-argument...and just keep talking.

I'm sick of watching these right-wing pukes not even give a moment's consideration to historical fact. It makes them complete fools. They are either ignorant or playing on the ignorance of others, either way causing disastrous affects because their lies are amplified in the media.

Thank God for Rachel.

28. CARTER'S VOLKER
Newsbusters still has the video.
When will they learn! The Reagan boom was because of Jimmy Carter's Fed Chief VOLKER who finally broke the back of inflation in 1983 or 4. NOT BECAUSE OF REAGAN TAX CUTS! In 1986 Reagan REALLLY slashed taxes from on the rich from 50% (15% higher than now) to 28% which caused the 1987 Stock market Crash,
the S& L Bank crisis,
and recession in 89-92!!

31. BINGO!!! CARTER is a hero because of this
Carter knew that Volkers policy would be ruinous short term but that is was necessary to save the economy from a descent into Wiemar Republic like inflation. Knowing full well that the results would make him a one term president, but save the country, Carter told Volker "do it".

A more heroic stand we could not ask for by a President who is mocked to this day.

54. Greenspan appointed 1987

Greenspan was on Reagan's Social security reform commission in 1981 and DOUBLED the SS tax for all making below $30,000. It built up a huge surplus, while Reagaan cut taxes on the rich in half. Then as Reagan's advisor, Greenspan and Reagan started borrowing from the SS Trust fund to pay for Reagans spiralling national debt from his tax cuts on the rich.

45. yes,
and Volker worked like a mad man to keep Reagan's economic policies from bankrupting this nation, even as he walked the fine line of further enriching himself and his cronies.

Ironically, Volker 'predicted' the economic morass in which we're currently mired--like that was any real stretch.

Edited on Sun Jan-23-11 02:09 PM by Myshadow
This fragment is a misleading. David Stockman clubbed this little douche with reality. For some reason moore is on every cable rolodex, polluting the thought stream with his supply side bullshit on cnn, cnbc, msnbc, and faux. Stockman and Maddow totally doubleteamed and drank his milk shake for the whole show. russell simmons came on in the last segment and laid a steamer on the proceedings referring to his 'friend rog' er ailes as a go to guy about prison reform. Maher was incredulous, and asked WTF?
simmons then went on to give a completely incoherent recall of their discovery of 'common ground' and solutions about prison reform.

50. Top 10% own 70% of wealth in America
Edited on Sun Jan-23-11 03:41 PM by ErikJ
On "Meet the Press" this morning they were talking about the debt.

The hot Republican chick from CNBC said that our household assets are $63 Trillion and we have a National debt of $13 Trillion.

The top 10% therefore own $45 Trillion net worth assets.
The top 1% own over $20 Trillion assets.

And so they are going to cut the social services part of the budget for the bottom 50% that own 2.5% or $1.5 Trillion of the nation's assets?
And the bottom 25% who own ZERO % of the nation's assets?
