In Argentina, unionists have caused chaos in the capital as they marked the murder of their leader three months ago.

Press TV's Melissa Abalo reports from Buenos Aires.

1. I am a little confused
the commentator (at 1:50) said that this man was shot by Union supporters during a confrontation with a socialist group?
I thought he was shot by anti-Unionists...
I hope that these fledgling Union movements fare much better than in America. We fought, and many died, to have the right to organize. We were successful until the RW corporate coup began under Reagan.
Now we are down to one party rule.....the corporate party is our only "choice."

2. I think the attack on Labor began in the lead up to WW I when democratic president Woodrow Wilson
brutally eliminated the more radical elements of Labor, such as the IWW. Labor was crushed until FDR and congress passed the Wagner Act. Labor made a deal not to strike during WW II and for the most part remained loyal to that pledge. Following WW II there was the Labor/Capital Accord followed by the purging of socialist/progressive elements from the Labor movement. That was followed by the all out attack on Labor with Taft-Hartley and because Labor had already capitulated to capital the leadership wasn't willing to fight and call a general strike. This was followed by the McCarthy Era, blacklisting and more purges and this opened the door to further attacks on Labor resulting in Raygun firing the air traffic controllers. Here we are today with Union density at around 11% counting the public sector and now the public sector Unions, that includes teachers, are under attack from, hold on now because you're not going to believe this, democrats. Yep, once again, again and again democrats are attacking their staunchest and most steadfast ally, the working class.
