Rachel Maddow - Supreme Court Conflicts of Interest |
|
And now we know that THREE Supreme Court Justices were not at President Obama's SOTU: Scalia & Thomas did not show up - and Alito (was in Hawaii).

1. No checks & balances for the justices when they ignore ethics & the law. |
|
Good piece from Rachel showing how they continue to lower the bar of impartiality & ethics.

2. I mean, shouldn't justices |

of the supreme court be held to the very highest standards? Seems to me that there was so much respect for the institution in the past that regulations simply weren't necessary, now, not so much.

5. And the M$M won't even mention it! |

The corruption I mean. Here we are mired in corruption and not a word about it, la la la. Unbelievable. In my younger days when I railed against the status quo, little did I suspect that it would get to this point.

4. For most of it's life, the SCOTUS has been distrusted and disliked. |
|
One can not look at a solitary example of those sitting on the court and determine if the absolute authority privilege is reasonable.
Historically, the SCOTUS has made some horrific mistakes, some of which have had to be corrected by a subsequent court.
The majority of Americans, including myself, feel that the issue of abortion rights would have been better addressed by the legislature. A recent court made the monumental foul of calling a presidential election. In both of these examples, many the ramifications of these decisions have been disastrous, even if the court's intentions were honorable.
Is Scalia wrong? Hell yes! History will hate Scalia. Is Thomas and Alito? Most certainly. These are simply signs of the gilded age we are in.
When the time comes to repair the damage being done, I want a court unencumbered to decide what to do. However, after almost 250 years, we might have seen enough to consider the possibility of stronger language on the decorum of justices and stronger teeth in the legislative review.
Because of Scalia and his band of brothers? No. But because our best courts have shown high standards and our worst courts have lacked moral fortitude.
Let's amend the constitution!
