1. They also bless and decide what music and movies you will see.
Great artists are marginalized because they were not born into money, did not go to the universities blessed by the music and entertainment business and do not follow conventional wisdom or corporately set societal norms.

Currently, if you try to work as an intern in the Nashville music industry you can forget about it if you're not a Belmont University student. That's just one example. There are exceptions to the rule and I'm certain someone will take exception with me.

3. More rank hypocrisy from RT
It's really beyond absurd at this point. The Kremlin mostly decides what Russians see on their TV news broadcasts -- which is important since that's where most Russians get their news. Strangely enough, they aren't very keen on views that paint the United Russia party in a negative light. Oh yeah, they fund RT as well.

6. Thing is even rank hypocrisy doesn't mean one is wrong
Edited on Sun Jan-30-11 07:17 PM by booley
was there anything in the RT article that was incorrect? Anything factually wrong?

I didn't see anything that I hadnt' heard a hundred times on Free Speech TV, which is NOT funded by the Kremlin.

9. RT is the mouthpiece of an authoritarian regime
Their whole existence is wrong. The us media isn't great, but it's a damn site better than much of the Russian media, which has been co-opted by the United Russia clique. They need to relax control there first . . . Then they might have dome credibility on outside affairs.

7. Yes, yes and yes again.
I have no idea why anyone continues to watch teevee. It's all vapid bullshit. Chewing gum for the mind. A vast landscape of nothingness.

It's so obvious but sadly there are way too many people who just don't get it.

Yet the Comcast-NBC merger was allowed to go through against the will of the American people that voiced their opposition.

Democracy is damn near death in this nation and media consolidation is one of the primary causes.
