Monday, January 31st, 2011. Sh*t done hit the fan out in Egypt, where authorities are taking laughable measures to quell the ongoing protests.

3. Oops! I didn't realize that you and the Mildly Relevant News guy
were one and the same. I kinda watch this stuff on the fly. I got a chuckle out of "supported by...us" heh heh.

On another note...John Kasich. I'm also in Ohio. A lot of people in this state voted for that loon. Ugh! As I'm sure you know, he returned the federal money that was to be used for construction of light rail connecting Cincinnati, Columbus, and eventually, Cleveland.

This past weekend I attended a program at the public library where the author of a new book, "Cincinnati's Incomplete Subway" and a couple of individuals who produced a documentary about that debacle, discussed the possibility of completing/rehabilitating the subway, given the current critical need for various modes of rapid transit.

Unfortunately, given the election of Kasich, there's likely to be even less political will to meet the needs of Ohio's citizens in this area. Sad!

4. That's me!
I honestly don't know as much about Kasich as I should. But yes, I know about the federal funds going to New York and was not particularly happy about that. As long as the tracks could handle future high-speed, I think it's a worthy investment. And as a Clevelander, I would take a slow train to Cincinnati over driving, anyway. The Plain Dealer had a nice op-ed from someone who does the drive often. Apparently the train would've been approximately 30-45 minutes longer than the drive. But the writer pointed out you could do work, and if there was wi-fi, even more work!

To Kasich's credit, I suppose, he has spent a lot more time in Cleveland than Strickland did, and was at least there for the ground breaking ceremony for the Medical Mart, something I'm sure he would've struck down had he been the Mayor of Cleveland. But I'm 100% on board with you, no pun intended, with the trains.

I take it you're in Cincy? I'd be interested in hearing more about this doc! E-Mail me at MildlyRelevantgmailcom and I can even add you to our once-a-week newsletter complete with announcements & all of the week's episodes, so you can remember to watch on your own time :).

Cheers!
