A quote from John Edwards in today's speech at LiUNA! He will not compromise on Universal Health Care, and will try to take health care away from himself, Congress and all political appointees if UHC is not passed in the first 6 months of his presidency. Check out what he said!

If you want to download the audio of most of the speech, you can do so here:

(Audio file is missing the first minute or two and also has some gaps due to bad streaming.)

3. Edwards leads the way!
Ignore the corporate media's shiny new objects! - or else Democrats will be duped like Republicans are by Fox News.

4. He's already compromising by not supporting a single-payer plan.
I understand a candidate not coming out for universal single payer, but to take that position and then talk about "no compromise" is an odd contradiction.

5. Many people will want to keep the health care plan they now have.
That is why Edwards' plan is good. It gives the individual consumer a choice. People fear losing their doctors. They do not realize and probably will not believe the fact that if there were a universal health care plan they would be able to choose any doctor that was able and willing to take them as a patient and all the doctors would cost the same amount of money. I know that for a fact because I was enrolled and covered by plans in several European countries at various times in my life. People here think that if you had universal health care the government would appoint your doctor. Not so. I always chose my own doctor. But people are misinformed and therefore it will take time. Eventually the insurance companies will lose out because they will not be able to compete with the universal plan and coverage.

7. Most people will want to keep their plan...
Until they have a health crisis... like cancer, a car accident, a back injury, etc. I have one of the best health care plans money can buy but they only take care of you for so long before they start looking for ways out.

8. The President has a platform, why not use it to educate the
people in a series of televised health forums, community events, mailings etc. Kucinich says he will take the plan to the people so they will understand, rally behind him and elect people to office who agree with HR 676.

We have good insurance now and I'm willing to forego that for single payer and I'm sure there must be others as well. You never know until you try :)
