College Cost Reduction Act Sent To President

Speaker Pelosi spoke this afternoon at an enrollment ceremony in the Capitol, in which she signed the College Cost Reduction and Access Act, the largest investment in college financial aid since the GI Bill in 1944. She stated, “on behalf of the talented students who joined us today, and for millions more like them, we urge President Bush to support the dreams of middle-class American families by signing the College Cost Reduction and Access Act into law.” After the bill was enrolled, it was sent to President Bush for his signature. Also speaking are Chairman George Miller and Chairman Ted Kennedy:

2. Excellent Video
But we don't care about that education stuff in the US anymore! In America, we only have Institutes of Higher Job Training, and we force our college kids who care about fancy things like truth and justice to go starve themselves: http://www.startribune.com/462/story/1429043.html Literally.

The link is about a hunger strike at the University of Minnesota's campus that just started yesterday. This is what happens when you don't fund your society's infrastructure. To top it off the U of M campus is literally feet from the collapsed 35-W bridge.

3. This is one of the most important issues today.
Other than ending the war which deprives us of these higher functions of government for lack of resources. A good step in the right direction.

4. Bush yanked funding for guaranteed student loans to pay for war and tax cuts
Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 12:27 AM by niceypoo
The interest on my student loans doubled after the republicans tinkered with it. I have resisted refinancing for this very reason, that I believed that it is the one thing that the democrats might actually accomplish in their miserable little term. Still, as with everything the democrats do, I will believe it when I see it.
