(Sky News) Report by Alex Crawford -- The people of Zawiyah are fighting for their lives. We have seen with our own eyes Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's forces firing on peaceful protesters.

We have witnessed the regime's tanks shelling residential buildings. We have sheltered in a mosque as the colonel's soldiers fired on the minarets.

Later, we were in the town's Martyrs' Square watching the rebels' celebrations as the authorities in Tripoli told the foreign media they had "liberated" the place.

3. I have to be a bit sceptical [sic] about this
Sky is Britain's version of Fox (or Faux, as many here prefer) News, though government regulation may ensure that it is more politically impartial and thus (one hopes) accurate in its reporting.

4. Sky isn't the same as Faux. Have you watched Faux? Have you watched Sky? Did you watch the video?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 01:11 AM by Turborama
As you mentioned, there are laws in Britain about impartiality and accuracy in news reporting. Therefore, Sky News cannot be anything like Faux "news" (BTW it is called Faux here for a very good reason, it's FAKE news). In fact, Britain cannot have any "version" of Faux "news" on TV.

Are there any reports in this piece that you think could be inaccurate?

If so, feel free to report them to Ofcom: http://ask.ofcom.org.uk/help/television/howTvcomp

PS Why did you (sic) your own writing?

5. Very, very frustrating to watch...
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 01:28 AM by Adsos Letter
that wrecked multi-barreled afv they were celebrating around was some variant of the Shilka ZSU-23 23mm AA gun. Very, very deadly, and shows some of what the rebels have been up against.

Very frustrating to watch because a well trained, well armed, disciplined military unit (even a company sized formation) could avoid some of the quite normal mistakes being paid for in blood by the rebels, and wreak havoc on Gaddafi's guys in those built-up areas.

Not trying to slam the rebels; just hard to watch them bunch up, waste ammo, advance in the open, etc., and end having to pay in blood.
