MSNBC The RACHEL MADDOW Show - 9 March 2011: Michael Moore Interviewed.

MOORE: "This is war, this is a class war that's been leveled against the working people of this country... The fact that they think they can get away with this... What happened three years ago in 2008... they realized that they could get away with murder. They realized that they could literally loot the treasury, they could play with people's pension funds on Wall Street, they could destroy the economy, they could essentially do what they could to eliminate the middle class, and there would be no response from the people. There would be no revolt. People would just take it. And people just took it."

- snip -

"These protests do matter - in fact, this is one of the few times I can say that in my lifetime - actually going to a demonstration has made a difference. And people have got to come out of their homes tomorrow... They're planning a huge rally in Madison on Saturday afternoon..."

- snip -

"We're not broke. Wisconsin isn't broke. America isn't broke. We have trillions of dollars in our economy. The problem is the money isn't where it needs to be. Those 400 people - ... upper 1% and their allies - took that money out of circulation. They took that money and it's not there anymore. And they're not being taxed appropriately, and that's why that money isn't there. There's a revenue problem.

That's all there is. It's not because there's debt. There's always debt. If you're making car payments, you're in debt. That doesn't mean you're broke. Wisconsin isn't broke. America isn't broke. The money's just not in the people's hands. It's in the hands of the rich. The rich who committed these crimes back on Wall Street and they got away with it.

I brought these with me (SHOWS HANDCUFFS). I'd like anybody who works on Wall Street, anybody who works for one of the banks, just take a look at this. This is what is coming for you. Because the people aren't going to take it anymore. The people are going to demand justice, they're going to demand that your ass is in jail.

You've taken our money. We want the money back. You've taken our jobs overseas. We want those jobs back. Those are a national resource. Those are not yours to do with as you please. They affect all of us as a society. We have a right to those jobs. We have a right to that money that used to belong to the people of this country.

A million people evicted from their homes, foreclosed, this year. Another million expected this year.

How many...? I want to again, if I can, just address the Wall Streeters and the banksters out there: How many more people do you think you can throw out of their homes before they do revolt?"

- snip -

"It's mostly all northern states. Because the Republican Party, especially, has controlled pretty much the South for the better part of the past few decades, and now they're trying to take that philosophy and claim these northern states. And they will win. They will win, if people don't stand up. The good news is that they really are just tools - the Republicans - for this upper one percent that has all the loot. The good news is that there's a lot more of us than there are of them.... but if we don't act, they will take it away."

34. I'll Post It To FB Too
Notice before the break when he puts the handcuffs down. That's not acting. This is a citizen who foretold much of this, from his earliest issues with GM until today. He's still an optimist, but you can see the frustration. It's genuine the look he has at that moment. A real American, concerned for its future. I've laid this challenge down with fellow FB friends who lean GOP. The ones loudly union bashing. I ask how taking away the rights of citizens, by the government, is somehow 'government staying out of our lives'. How it gives us 'liberty' to take that liberty (to form a union) away. That's when you hear crickets as they desperately realize the checkmate against their 'logic'. Libyans are being blown up by military weapons as we speak. They're not backing down. Per capita we aren't even having one tenth of the protest we need against this theft of our rights.

The biggest indictment of Scott Walker in the call from the fake Koch was the 'priority' it got getting to him, and how long he sat there juxtaposing everything he said to meet the Koch brother's approval. How long he stayed on the phone to do that. How not ONCE did he say anything, or show any concern about putting Wisconsin back to work, about helping the middle class to better. It isn't what they are about. It never will be. We need to remind folks, the easily led armchair warriors watching FOX News and other fictional programming, these people are not your friends. Those fighting for rights you don't even realize you're losing, Michael Moore, the people in Wisconsin protesting. They are, and that's why you'll see the constant attack on them by the right wing. Your real enemy you swear allegiance to every day for the wedge-issue pablum those parasites feed you.

14. All day tomorrow 1000 right wing radio stations across the country will get Walker's back.
All day the national talkers will praise Walker for standing up to the Unions, like Reagan did. Many of the local talkers will, also.

Rush Limbaugh and Beck and Hannity and Levin and on and on with pin medals on him and continue to trash unions and teachers and public sector workers as right wing talk radio has done for the last two decades.

Rush Limbaugh recently called union workers and teachers and public employees bottom feeders and parasites. He and other national right wing talkers not only screen out callers that would disagree with them but some, if not all, may even use paid callers to pat them on the back. And Walker.

Limabugh denies this, as he does global warming.

Whatever happens in Wisconsin, this well established and dominating monopoly of public airwaves, reaching something like 50 million listeners a week, is going to get a free speech free ride for weeks to dampen down reaction to what is happening in Wisconsin and to support other ant-democratic actions like it.

If you want somewhere to protest and your state capitol is too far away or an inappropriate place to protest and you have a group, then consider your local Limbaugh station.

Some are more appropriate than others location-wise, but all are a big part of why we are here now. Tomorrow they will continue the ongoing attack on democracy, reading scripts supplied by corporate think tanks and maybe even getting calls from them.

And your local media might just be tired of getting attacked and threatened by them.

They are GOP power centers and the origin of much of the myths and distortions and lies that have taken America to this time and place. They make national debate based on facts impossible.

Universities all over the country, like the University of Wisconsin Madison, use these very loud global warming-denying, union hating, and racist stations to broadcast sports and they need to start looking for alternatives.

Their local sponsors need to look for better partners in their communities.

As long as these stations keep getting a free speech free ride the Scott Walkers will have that very loud wind in their sails.

18. I'm going to pull out my copy of Shock Doctrine because this
is what we're seeing. Americans are being blind-sided and are in denial about the GOP agenda, or just how far they'll go to impose it on society. Notice how since Obama has been president, the GOP governors have been wielding power like a club - Texas-threatening succession, Arizona and the war on immigrants, Wisconsin/Ohio- war on unions, and Virginia just passed a horrible bill to restrict access to abortion. These are just a few examples.

But, I fear he is a a tad overconfident, er, optimistic. The national media is not covering these protests. This is where our power comes from, when people see the groundswell of support. Ohio and Wisconsin protests need to number in the hundreds of thousands.

It's all very well to say "Wall Street should be in jail", but how do you arrest a street? Far better, I think, to publish a list of banksters who deserve to have arrest warrants put out against them.

I actually watched the segment, just because Moore makes a lot of sense, and it's always nice when corporate media allows some truth and justice to air. Not that they will make it a habit though so I'll keep msnbc off for the most part.

The latest actions of the repulican party in Ohio, Michigan, etc.. sound panic-struck and desperate to me. They know they're losing and that the public wont put up with this garbage anymore. Michael Moore asks 'How many more millions can you expect to kick out of their homes and not have some kind of revolt as a result?'

Bringing back the 1950's tax rates would be a nice start, but it won't do anything to return the money that's already been stolen.

by the republicans ideology & agenda financed by the rich and their corporations.....The greedy rich have always waged class warfare against the worker & unions that seek better working conditions wages/salary, health care, pensions and job safety conditions - every human being has a right to NEGOTIATE - bargain for better working conditions.

This is it. We lose this one, next comes an end to Medicaid, then Medicare, then Social Security.

Then the end of labor laws and one person-one vote. The New Deal is finished if Walker wins (or Snyder in Michigan). Finished.

42. We all buy Corporate Products - Should we?
What sort of economic power do the people have? If we cut spending, boycotting Wisconsin or Michigan or Big Brothers' Oil, people lose jobs.

But with the cuts in Federal Spending, cutting spending at home is the only rational choice as we strengthen our households for You're On Your Own - Darwinist Survival of the Fittest.

The money gets passed up the income scale because we buy the products of those companies. Hard to survive without them. But we should all try. Recycle, lend, borrow, buy used, fabricate ourselves, repair, barter, even do without.

There is no perfect choice for progressive consumers. But we can all make better spending choices that suit our own political and moral beliefs.
