3. This is what America SHOULD be about
And yet to many rightwingers, their xenophobic hatred towards law abiding Muslims is clearly indicative of an ignorance born from the ashes of Nazi Germany.

Shame, shame, shame.

8. Ditto!
Rep. Ellison,

If you happen to read DU, please know that I am SO proud to be represented by you (the FIRST Muslim elected to Congress). I am an atheist, but I stand with you as a brother in horror at what Rep. King is perpetrating. Keep up the fight, keep the faith!

9. K&R. Just heard this played on Lawrence O'Donnell.
Very moving.

Exposes King's "hearings" as bigoted bullshit.

10. An orthodox Jew applauds you, Mr. Ellison

and, it goes without saying, the Muslim First Responder whose story you told.

14. Eillison and Jefferson's Koran
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/underpants/84

Rep.-elect Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, found himself under attack last month when he announced he'd take his oath of office on the Koran -- especially from Virginia Rep. Virgil Goode, who called it a threat to American values.

Yet the holy book at tomorrow's ceremony has an unassailably all-American provenance. We've learned that the new congressman -- in a savvy bit of political symbolism -- will hold the personal copy once owned by Thomas Jefferson.

15. Congressman Ellison
is a testimony that not all Americans are as maniacal as Peter King. Feels like what McCarthyism was in the 50's. What did it accomplish? Not a damn thing except to hurt innocent people. He was a republican too. They're a hopeless group of misanthropes. The problem is not American muslims it's American rightwing extremism as Napolitano said and got castigated for it. Pretty obvious now though.
