I'm posting this for two reasons.

The first is because our politicians should have their feet held to the fire. They are elected to represent us and our interests and it is in our best interest that he get down to actually representing us today. Otherwise, it is just words. Lies.

The second is because there are people out there who are saying he needs to avoid this situation because it will become "all about him". Well it SHOULD become all about him. He is the leader of our party and he SHOULD LEAD OUR MOVEMENT TO PROTECT WORKERS' RIGHTS.

1. A message from President Obama
http://twitter.com/PressSec

PressSec: POTUS says we must come together & set aside partisanship to fix our budgets. Actions last night in #Wisconsin violate those principles. 8 minutes ago via web

3. That's why twitter sucks. And????
So some principles have been violated. Is that good? Is that bad? Are there consequences?

Will there be a followup statement?

8. transcript of clip
...and understand this: if American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I’m in the White House I’ll put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself, I’ll walk that picket line with you as President of the United States of America
because workers deserve to know that somebody’s standing in their corner. (applause)

13. Allow me to define picket lines... (which are not bound only to strikes)...
Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 03:35 PM by Fearless
"Picketing is a form of protest in which people (called picketers)<1> congregate outside a place of work or location where an event is taking place. Often, this is done in an attempt to dissuade others from going in ("crossing the picket line"), but it can also be done to draw public attention to a cause. Picketers normally endeavor to be non-violent. It can have a number of aims, but is generally to put pressure on the party targeted to meet particular demands."

15. Nope, probably it will be "but picket lines are illegal."

After all, WI law provides a perfectly good excuse right there.

20. He didn't say "strike" and workers ARE being denied to collectively bargain.
And as it has been pointed out to you, there ARE pickets.

People like you remind me of the hold-out Japanese soldiers found on islands 20 years after the war. Give it up.
