House GOP One Step Closer to Killing Net Neutrality Rules
Subcommittee votes for resolution that would overturn FCC’s new regulations
March 10, 2011

House Republicans have just taken the first step toward overturning the FCC’s controversial net neutrality rules.

On Wednesday, the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology voted 15-8 to pass a resolution that nullifies the FCC rules. The resolution now goes before the full House Committee on Energy and Commerce, where Republicans undoubtedly have the numbers to approve it. The resolution is expected to come to the House floor in the next few weeks.

Republicans have been relentless in their quest to kill the FCC's net neutrality rules. There is also a provision in the recently passed House budget bill that would prevent the FCC from using any of the funding appropriated for it in the legislation to implement the rules.

1. OMG
I don't know how much more I can take.

My heart is just breaking for America. They are trying to destroy us.

I worry about my children and my grandchildren - what will they be left with after the republicans are done doing their heartless, evil deeds?

My God, I'm so upset.

Annette

2. Republicans seek to quash ‘net neutrality’ rules
Republican members of the US Senate and House of Representatives are seeking to quash rules approved by US telecom regulators designed to ensure an open Internet.

The five-member Federal Communications Commission (FCC), in a vote split on party lines, agreed in December to the rules aimed at safeguarding "network neutrality," the principle that lawful Web traffic should be treated equally.

Is television and entertainment media converging into a monopoly, dragging the Internet down with it and ultimately hurting you as the consumer? The proposed NBC Universal and Comcast merger has people saying just that. Sam Seder, former Air America Host says he doesn't see anyone gaining from this convergence. He argues this would be hurting the quality of the product, consumers and entrepreneurship. He talks about his personal experience in the entertainment business dealing with large companies.

4. The Senate is our only hope.......
These Rethuglikkkans are worst than I had imagined. They have bent over or spread their legs wide open for their corporate masters. They claim to be Xtians but they are nothing more than cheap whores for their paymasters. If we lose neutrality on the internet, they control the future. This must be stopped.
