Same bullshit, different asshole. Here again we find something bad that has its roots in St.Ron. The Reagan Administration put a bunch of laws into place back in the 80s that allowed the cops not only to seize any and all of your property if you were caught dealing drugs (anything that was used in the crime of selling drugs: e.g. The car you drove to the site of the deal, the house you stored the drugs in, or anything they could suggest that drug money helped to pay for: e.g. potentially all your personal property.) These laws were worded so as to include property that wasn't yours (e.g. your friend's car that you borrowed to go and score, or the rented house you were dealing out of.) The point of these laws was to get landlords-fearing the loss of their property- to spy on their tenants. And back in the 80s who was going to oppose this? Defending drug users/ dealers back then was as much the scarlet letter that defending kiddie porn is today.
