This demonstration was nowhere near the building; it appeared to be a large parking lot. The riot gear is laughable.

Wonder why the teabaggers aren't treated this way? Because they are regarded as the stupid people who are ignorant of what the real dangers are in this country until it happens to them.

Who the hell were all those people? You had state police, cops, and some guys in green with riffles and dogs. I have tears in my eyes. This is not the country I want to live in. Protesting is as American as Apple Pie. If we lose our right to protest; we lost all our rights. I was part of a protest in Boston a few weeks ago in front of Bank of America and the cops could not have been nice.

...I am an old person and while I am not sure how this was filmed, I am telling you, one of the greatest inventions are those phone and small video cameras. They can't all be confiscated and they are inconspicuous. In the '60s whenever you demonstrated they (the police and government) used to forcefully cover the lenses of these heueueuege cameras that had to be there if it was recorded.

I am without words but not surprised at this disrespectful treatment of non-violent people. I always wonder why the police have to show up in riot gear for a bunch of people who do not believe in violence, most of them elders and retirees.

I CANNOT HELP BUT note that nobody showed up like that with riot gear and hundreds of police when a bunch of clueless old people Tea Partiers who FREAKING SHOWED UP WITH GUNS AT A PRESIDENT'S APPEARANCE.

I didn't know who she was, and just started chatting with her in the rotunda of the Capitol - one of our first days of "lockdown." She had come to Madison to see for herself what was going on. I had gotten inside pretty quickly, thanks to the help of a Legislative Staffer. Ann, with her bad hip, stood outside for more than three hours on that freezing-cold day in order to get into the building to which access had been illegally restricted by Walker.

I didn't realize until after leaving the Capitol and reading more about her what an honor it was for me to have met her. :patriot:
