2. In Columbus Tuesday, a rally of non-public school advocates assembled for state funding for them.
I called it the biggest gathering of hypocrites in the state. I know a lot of the people who attended the event, or supported it. They're the same ones who are cheering on the passage of SB 5, which guts collective bargaining rights in Ohio. They're the same ones who say this has to be done because the state is in a fiscal crisis and increasing taxes is not an option.

Yet, here they were, either in person or in spirit, gathering in front of like-minded state and federal legislators and pushing for approval of state policy for more tax-funded tuition vouchers that parents can use to send their children to private school and removal of the cap on privately operated charter schools.

I always thought persons sending children to parochial schools did so for spiritual reasons for the most part, with the understanding that they would not have the luxury of government subsidies to defray costs. Seems they want their cake and eat it too.
