This morning on THE VIEW, Whoopi Goldberg came close to calling birthers and Donald Trump in particular racist. In a discussion with Trump about President Obama's birth certificate she finally asked him was it about race?

Goldberg: Donald, I think that’s the biggest pile of dog mess I’ve heard in ages! It’s not because he’s black, is it?

Trump: It has nothing to do with him being black.

Goldberg: Because I’ve never heard a white president being asked to show his birth certificate. That’s B.S.

It is long past time for folks to start calling birtherism what it is, racism, and birthers, including Trump, what they are, racist.

I know that is harsh, but the attempt to "other" President Obama by alleging he wasn't born here is nothing but dog whistle racism intended to imply that he is different and "not one of us."

Instead of the burden of proof being Obama to present a birth certificate, WHICH HE HAS DONE, the burden of proof should be on birthers to prove they are not racist.

2. Calling Trump a racist would have changed the conversation.
Trump needs to defend the words coming out of his mouth, not whether he has some deep hatred against people unlike him. Whoopi could never prove that he's a racist, but she sure as hell can show that Trump's remarks were wrong-headed, ignorant, and hypocritical. And that's where the conversation needed to be.

6. It takes a tremendous amount of self-discipline to swallow the urge to scream, "Racist!" at some.
Trump is one of those.

4. Donald Trump may not be
a racist, he may just be genuinely an idiot. He does not see the irony of calling himself smart and a self-made millionaire when he inheirited his wealth and his companies have filed bankruptcy multiple times to force bondholders to give up what is owed to them by Trump companies. He exploited his own backers who lent him money, using the government to shield him. Yet, despite using government programs to enhance his personal wealth, he says that government needs to shape up.

5. Sorry, but why does this man even deserve such a high-profile public forum??
I guess I must come from Mars.

Reason no. 129,378,129,873 why I don't watch TV. TV tends to warp one's sense of perspective and proportionality.

7. Trump is trying to appeal to the teaparty. I notice Whoopi's the only one who was really upset.
Guess the other ladies on the view can't relate.

11. I always asked a birther
what is on the birth certificate that is relevant to citizenship, isn't on the certificate presented?

I get these responses:

His father's name ...my response, not relevant to citizenship
Doctor's signature...my response, not relevant to citizenship

Then I get the canned response Trump was saying...If he has nothing to hide why doesn't he provide his birth certificate? Which then I would say, all information relevant to citizenship is provided on the form Obama provided. This document is legal in all 50 states and territories for the purpose of Identification and citizenship. It isn't up to Obama to prove your case, the burden of proof is on those who make the accusation. I am still waiting.

I will be glad when the last bigot/racist draws their final breath and this nonsense of judging people based on the color of their skin, how they pray, who they love, the list goes on and on...
