The Gaddafi convoy sent to attack Benghazi, which was bombed just before it could get there by the NFZ coalition last Saturday. The convoy starts moving at about 4 minutes into it. It's shot from inside one of the trucks - it's like being there.

I found it just now from a tweeter in that area:

There's no description with it on youtube, my guess is that it might've come from a captured cell phone.

This was a really, really BIG convoy!

:wow:

2. That does not strike me as being a defeated army. Far from it.
I think we may have underestimated the situation.

3. That convoy was destroyed in the first night of bombing, before it could reach Benghazi.
That's what was heading for the city to destroy it. That's why the coalition had to act so fast, the convoy was very close to Benghazi when the first night of bombing took it out.

Everything in that convoy is now burnt wreckage.

4. Yes, unfortunately, waiting one more day would have meant a whole city wiped off the map.
A million people.. poof...

I don't like the bombinb, but they asked us to protect them, and it is clear that it had to be done.

thank you for posting this! :pals:

5. Exactly right. A day later, and Benghazi would've been history.
Lots of lives were saved by the coalition's fast action.

8. Exactly.
I am still very sad... all the way around.

But... relieved.

Thank you... this hasn't been easy, and being yelled at as a "war monger" has left marks.

I hate war and I hate killing.I hate all of this shit.
I'll tell you what.I can not think of anyone that I would rather be president at this time than Barack O.
If anybody here actually believes that Pres. Obama likes this shit then they are crazy.
It is a hard ass job and he is as human as all of us and I am as sure as shit that I couldn't sit by and let that city fall if I were in his shoes.
Hang in there! :toast:

6. How do you know "Everything in that convoy is now burnt wreckage."?
I saw some footage yesterday that showed a group of vehicles burning and ammo sputtering after an airstrike, along with assorted photos of destroyed tanks and one burnt-out self-propelled howitzer, like the one on the trailer in the beginning of this video.

There were hundreds of vehicles in this video. Was the entire column destroyed, like the "Basra death road" at the end of the First Iraq War?

10. It was reported as entirely destroyed by news on the gound afterward,
except that evidently (as I learned in joshcryer's GD Libya thread after posting) some vehicles did escape and diverted to Ajdabiya, where attacks continued this past week, and now it's being reported that most of those vehicles have been either captured or destroyed by now. So remnants of the convoy scattered out into the local area a bit. That may be why/how this video was recovered... from a captured or dead soldier who got away from the initial bombing.

Yes, it was mentioned in that same thread (I had posted it there first just as a comment) that some have likened the wreckage of this convoy to post-Kuwait. (I guess that description would've come from some observer of it, I didn't ask who.) Link to that here:

11. War is nasty...Everyone in that convoy was ready...
to go kill so they were equally qualified to get killed...And that is what appears to have happened.

12. It's SO WEIRD though, to see them before they took off, as if one among them.
To see how it looked to them. You NEVER get to see that.

It's clear that they sure didn't expect what happened - to get wiped out. You're exactly right SkyDaddy7, they were ready to do the same to Benghazi. I don't mean to sound flip but, "karma's a bitch".

14. Right! I too was not trying to sound like a...
cold hearted war monger but the fact is they were all smiles & ready to kill...They had no idea what was coming! My guess is they had no idea there was even talk of Western Powers getting involved.

I can't say I feel sorry for them either..."Karma is a bitch"
