NATO has agreed to take command of the Libyan no-fly zone, but stopped short of accepting full military control. Alliance chief, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, said the U.S. will hand over operational responsibility to NATO within days. Meanwhile, fresh air strikes have rocked the Libyan capital Tripoli, with reports of more civilian casualties. Gerald Celente from the Trends Research Institute says NATO is just a cover for the U.S. and the Libyan mission is about gaining control of the country's oil.

3. 53% of every $1 in US taxes.....
...goes to the http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/04/13-4">military. Half the oil the US imports is for the http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2010/08/05/the_ministry_of_oil_defense">military.

- These wars aren't for our protection, nor are they for humanitarian reasons. Its all about oil and testosterone.....

8. actually much more than 53% of tax revenue goes to military total outlays,in fact 100% isn't enough
after you subtract out FICA (which legally cant be spent on defense), there is only $1.3 trillion in revenue, but counting all military/black ops/war debt the total is $1.6 trillion per year in costs.

The 53% figure was taking the BUDGET and comparing the war machine's true total costs.

The article, btw, made a $500 trillion underestimate of the budget, which for 2011 will be $3.7 trillion, at least, not $3.2, so the deficit/debt is even worse.

6. Unfortunately the people of Libya live in a country that has oil instead of broccoli.
Living in a country with oil rather than broccoli, does that mean they somehow deserve to be wiped out by Khadafi?

10. it is not about the poor local people,. bombing them does not help them.
at least 3 post here saying ~ "we must protect the people",.Really? from the leader we sell arms to? do you really think we are helping? This is propaganda, that you have internalized. Sure, sane people everywhere do not want to see this violence against oppressed people, however bombing from the air will not help these people,. the people who live there must remove the evil dictators,. outside forces do not do this to be nice, they do it for their own profit$. It is a civil war, and the USA is pushing the two sides against each other for it's own reasons,. truth and democracy are not among them. Control of oil, military $pending, distraction from the continuing banking system ripoff of everyone,. these are the more likely reasons. You don't find it odd that the USA picks and chooses which oppressed people to intervene on the behalf of? You really don't see a pattern? Oil, money, and control,. the only uses of military spending that there is. and the USA is fully invested in this game-plan,. . wake the hell up.
