Respectfully, Britethorn would like to know if Sen. Clinton is using YouTube as a free advertising space without paying any attention to the responses to her videos. And if so, is this Cool?

1. Well, her campaign did allow comments to be posted in response to her videos for a while
but my guess is that they were too difficult to moderate (ie, too many "Hillary's a fat commie dyke" comments which definitely appear in response to Hillary articles on other sites). Still, they could probably get an intern on the case or something.

2. Hillary's Videos
Exactly our thought. We posted a text response to her video (pointing out the problem with the audio) within an hour or two of it's posting, and received the message that all text responses had to be approved. So we posted the "Vampire" video to get their attention -- which it has not for the past 5 days. So they are, in affect, using YouTube as a free ad space, as are others, we're sure. But can't these campaigns come up with someone who can spend an hour a day going through the responses, at least approving the ones that aren't hateful?

3. Well, it's their prerogative, I guess

I'd like it if they allowed comments, too - maybe it's just not one of their priorities right now. Hopefully they'll get somebody to deal with the comments in the future. For now, though, I like that you guys are using a creative approach to get their attention!

4. Thanks
We really did mean to be respectful about this matter. It's a legitimate question: should candidates use YouTube for free ad space and pay little or no attention to the response to their videos. And leaving the McCain ad up all week just makes her look silly.

7. Thanks for the video
You made an excellent point and it is disappointing that the Clinton campaign with all their resources are oblivious.

12. HILLARY CENSORS EVERYTHING
on her You Tube site...

Here is my video short on the "lack" of conversation at Hillary's You Tube website:

15. Agreed
All we're asking is that the Clinton campaign (as well as all the other top tier candidates) pay SOME attention to the responses to their videos -- and occasionally respond to them. And, of course, it would be nice if they actually ALLOWED responses. Free Speech, democracy and all that stuff.

14. Bad comments - so what?
It seems to me that Hillary wants to control everything (or try to) about her campaign, not unlike the Bushies's attempt to control the message. Hillary better learn to deal with people who disagree with her and the rightwing/general strong dislike of her...

9. Stupid Presidents
Well, if you look at the current resident of the White House you don't have to think twice about the answer to that question. The problem here, really, is that YouTube and internet videos are still very, very new forms of communication and the rules for behavior are still being worked out. The really cool thing is that the average guy now has a very powerful and easily obtained soapbox upon which to address the candidates and current office holders. But we still have to try and make sure that the people many of these videos are ultimately aimed at are actually listening to what's being said. It's too late for George W. Bush. It may be too late for Hillary Clinton (to learn to actually start to listen) but younger candidates like Obama might actually start to pay attention to this platform in the days ahead -- or not. Got to wait and see how it all shakes out.

10. YouTube viewers' input could be an incredible resource for the candidates.
I'd like to think that if it were MY daddy's store, I'd assign someone to cull the legit questions, comments and summarize. And video statements and queries would also be invaluable. It's not being used as tool to communicate with the voters, but merely another platform to post a view or position with no room for dialogue. Kind of disrespectful.

I love that someone added the McCain video, and Hilliary the Vampire Slayer is destined to become a classic.

Thanks for 'reporting' this!

11. Your Daddy's Store
The thing is, YouTube is so new and so amazingly powerful a tool for good or evil (or whatever is in between) that I believe it is important for the members of that community to begin stressing what code of conduct we'd like to see being observed there. It's like we've just recently discovered the written word, but now we all have to agree on sentence structure and punctuation so we can understand what we're trying to say to one another.
Thanks for the compliment of the journalism. Superman's day job is being a journalist, which is good enough for me.
