2. Years ago, a wise man said... |
|
... that if people were so hell bent in winning the war on terror, most military contractors would have no problem becoming nationalized and get government salary positions. The you would see who really supports the troops and who doesn't.
As long as this war is a racket, there is no incentive for military contractors to end/win it. Why would they cut their own revenue stream?
The sick part is when you see commercials from Boeing claiming how they work so hard to defend our freedom. Almost like they do it from the bottom on their heart working for free or something.

3. I always wonder about those commercials. Who are they supposed |
|
to be appealing to? Your average American isn't about to go out and buy any Boeing products. I guess it's to tithe the corporations that support big-biz.

4. Most big defence conglomerates have some civilian operations... |
|
... thus this helps in providing a brand awareness.
The sick part of it, they use the sacrifice of our boys and girls for the advertisement campaigns.
BTW, most of those PR campaigns are paid through the ridiculous overcharging associated with military purchases. So it is a double whammy of sorts: We rob you blind AND we use YOUR hard earned money to tell YOU how good we are for YOU. Probably Orwell missed this, since on most other topics he was right on target. The military-industrial complex may be the beast about which the bible forewarned us: Destruction means profit, and profit is their raison d'etre... a cyclic self sustaining beast of sorts. The more it destroys the more it grows, stopping destruction stops its life support. And I am not the religious type, but damn if these corporations are not the epitome of evil.

5. the military was against the F-16 and A-10 fighters |
|
Two of the best, most useful, and cost effective units in the Air Force. However, profit margins for these planes are much lower than for the F-18 Superhornet, which is an overpriced boondoggle. Look up the history of the disastrous F-111 project, when the Air Force bought hundreds of these overpriced white elephants, or the F-104 Starfighter, which set records for crashing during military training and exercises, as well as being inferior to Soviet technology. Why did these boondoggles get funding and production? Because they were very profitable for the contractors, whereas the A-10 and F-16 made smaller marginal profits.
Profits=death. Profits above all.
